A bridge is a permanent fixed restoration which replaces more than one tooth. They are usually made with a precious metal base and can then be either bonded to porcelain or other non-precious metals depending on the need.
Bridges are only suitable if there is sufficient bone support. Sometimes if you have a particular heavy or direct bite then a bridge may not be a suitable treatment option.
A bridge should still be cleaned everyday especially along the gum line using either id brushes or super floss, your dentist can advise you on what is the best product to use.
To have a bridge it requires more than one appointment, the initial preparation appointment secondary fit appointment two weeks later, if needed a temporary bridge will be made for you to wear between appointments.
There a different types of bridges available to our patients, your dentist will discuss your treatment needs and any costs to you at your assessment appointment. It is then your decision which bridge option to choose.
