Implants are a way of replacing missing teeth. The implants themselves are metal structures, much like a screw, made of titanium alloys. They are placed into your jawbone in a precise and highly specialised procedure carried out in a dental office under local anaesthetic or sedation. After a minimum of three months healing (to give a chance for the bone to integrate into the implant), the implant is exposed and a replacement tooth can be attached on top.

Are implants safe and how long do they last?
Implants are a well established dental procedure which has been tried and tested in the industry. 98% of lower implants placed at our practice successful and 96% of upper implants, the successfulness of implants is down to a mixture of patient co-operation in pre and post care / the placement and implant procedure and the patients natural body and its acceptance of an implant.
Can I have new teeth straight away?
No, the implant itself needs time to integrate (fuse/bond) with the jawbone after initial placement. This takes anywhere between 3 and 6 months. If needed you will be provided with a temporary solution whilst healing and integration takes place.
How long does treatment take to complete?
The implant process from initial consultation to final fitting can take anywhere between 4 - 9months, depending on treatment plan and the options chosen for tooth/teeth replacement. You will be given a personalised treatment plan including time scale after your FREE consultation appointment.
Implant placement and replacement of teeth is not a procedure that can be rushed and should not be rushed. Your dentist has devised a personalised plan for you, the time scale included in this plan is needed for allow proper integration and restoartions to be completed.
